23. MTB tour from San Candido to Lienz

The Drava cycle path from San Candido to Lienz is one of the most popular and frequented cycle paths in South Tyrol, as it is also easy to ride for families with children.
The cycle path runs along a well-marked route and is suitable for all types of bicycles.

Start from the Berghotel in Sesto/Moso on the cycle path to San Candido, then in the direction of the hospital, where you turn left and after about 500 m cross the road and go through the underground passage. After that, turn right and follow the signposted cycle path to Prato alla Drava. Here you will find the next connection to the cycle path behind the Carabinieri station (police station). From the first Austrian village of Arnbach, the cycle path continues along the river Drava to the destination of Lienz. At the height of the Lienz Dolomitenstadion (stadium), cross the river Drava one last time and turn right towards the Lienz train station. Along the route, there are numerous rest stops and refreshment areas.

Recommendation: for those who do not want to go all the way to Lienz, it is also possible to stop earlier. The train also stops in Versciaco, Sillian, Tassenbach, Abfaltersbach, Mittewald and Thal. Alternatively, the tour can also be started in San Candido at the train station or at the 'Punka' in Versciaco.
